YOUR HUMANS
CRISTAL + AMY
Hi, we're Cristal and Amy — co-founders, and Camp Mom and Dad of Traverse Trail Camps.
Cristal grew up in the San Juan Mountains of Colorado, where the outdoors was just part of life. Running didn't click until her mid-twenties in Alaska, when a 23-mile day on the Crow Pass trail changed everything. It's been a slippery slope ever since — longer races, bigger terrain, and a first 100-miler at the Crazy Mountain 100 in 2022. She's back in the San Juans now, exploring her backyard and the wider Southwest by every human-powered means possible.
Amy grew up in California, picked up running at 15 to get in shape for basketball, and promptly quit basketball. A self-proclaimed 5k lover, she surprised herself during the pandemic exploring Bay Area trails, which led to the Bryce Canyon 50k in 2021 and the Black Canyon 60k in 2023. For the past decade she's been personal training and co-running Lift and Sprint, an outdoor kettlebell business, alongside her husband. She has an adventurous eleven-year-old and an unshakeable belief that women are capable of far more than they think.
We started Traverse because we wanted to create the camp we always wished existed — one that challenges you, holds you, and sends you home stronger than you arrived. We can't wait to meet you on the trail.

-
There is a non-refundable $600 deposit due at registration.
Cancel before the date specified at registration and receive a full refund minus the non-refundable deposit.
No refunds will be given for cancellations after the date specified.
Late cancellations can make it difficult for us to find other participants to fill the vacancy and we are likely to take a loss. We strongly encourage purchasing trip insurance.

We will send you a thorough Camp Guide a few weeks before camp with a detailed packing list and itinerary. But, in general, make sure to pack a variety of running clothing for both hot and cool temperatures as the weather is still warm during the day but can be chilly at night. You need a hydration pack that can carry at least 2 liters of water. Pack your favorite running snacks and of course trail shoes. Don’t forget a bathing suit for the sauna/cold plunge. Dolores is pretty casual, but if you feel like having something a little nicer for exploring town, bring it on!
-
There will be a complimentary shuttle leaving Durango Airport for Dolores at 2pm on Wednesday. Please plan your flights accordingly. If you can’t make our shuttle, there are other shuttles you can arrange for the 1 hour trip to Dolores but it will definitely be more fun in our vans! (hehe). On Sunday, please plan flights that depart at 1pm or later. Of course, if you need to leave earlier we can help you arrange alternative transportation to the Durango airport.

A healthy breakfast bar will be offered each morning at camp headquarters. We have an in-house chef to prepare healthy, filling dinners and picnic lunches to enjoy. In addition, headquarters will be stocked with a variety of snacks, waters, and non-alcoholic beers. Alcoholic beverages are not included, but you are welcome purchase your own on at the hostel or in town!
