CRISTAL HIBBARD

co-Founder, camp dad, incredible human (she/her)

Cristal grew up in the San Juan Mountains of Colorado with no shortage of outdoor activities. In her younger days, running was just part of soccer conditioning, not an enjoyable activity in its own right.

After moving to Alaska in her mid 20s, she fell in with a crowd that normalized trail running long distances and was immediately hooked after a 23 mile day on the Crow Pass trail. It’s been a slippery slope of longer and longer races and days on the trail ever since, culminating in her first 100 mile race, the Crazy Mountain 100 in 2022.

Cristal is back in the San Juans exploring her backyard, and the other amazing landscapes of the southwest US, via all modes of human powered travel. She loves to see other women challenge and surprise themselves out on the trail and can’t wait to meet everyone at trail camp.

AMY BRENNICK

Amy Brennick is a California-born trail runner, strength coach, and co-founder of Traverse Trail Camps.

Her running journey began at age 15 when she joined the cross-country team to get in shape for basketball. What started as conditioning quickly became a lifelong passion. Drawn to the challenge of pushing her limits and the community she found in the sport, Amy left basketball behind and never looked back.

Amy discovered trail running and ultrarunning during the pandemic while exploring Bay Area trails with her best friend. What began as a way to spend more time outdoors evolved into a love of long days on the trail, leading her to complete races including the Bryce Canyon 50K and Black Canyon 60K.

For more than fifteen years, Amy has worked as a coach and personal trainer, helping people build strength, confidence, and resilience through movement. She also co-founded Lift & Sprint, an outdoor kettlebell strength and conditioning program in the Bay Area, where she combines practical strength training with an athlete-centered approach to fitness.

Amy believes trail running has the power to change lives, not because of finish times or race results, but because of the confidence, connection, and self-discovery that happens along the way. Through Traverse Trail Camps, she hopes to create experiences that help women step outside their comfort zones, build meaningful friendships, and discover what they're truly capable of in the mountains and beyond.

When she's not coaching or running, you'll likely find her exploring trails with friends, planning the next adventure, or keeping up with her spirited daughter, Téa.

Derya dee

photographer + Others bits and bops, camp goat (she/her)

Derya (like “sarah” with a “d”) grew up with adventure in her bones and has spent most of her life finding new ways to move through gorgeous and precious ecosystems. A sustainability consultant by trade, turned photographer and creative director, she came to trail running not through racing but through the mountains — specifically, a desire to go further and higher into the alpine while studying sustainability and environmental policy in Geneva. Trail running became the training ground, and the training ground became a beautiful passion.

It was her mom who nudged her toward ultras, and once she crossed the finish line of her first 50k in 2023, there was no going back. The following year she ran the High Lonesome 100 — her favorite race of all time and a course that captures everything she loves about being in the mountains.

When she's not on trail, Derya is behind a lens, researching something, or building brands that connect people to the places and communities they love. She brings that same eye to Traverse — for the terrain, the storytelling, and the belief that the outdoors deserves to be documented as beautifully as it deserves to be experienced. She can't wait to see what you're capable of out there!
